As we enter the final days before our recital, please take a few minutes to review these important instructions. Your cooperation will help us keep the program organized, safe, and enjoyable while allowing our dancers to give their very best on stage.
1. Venue, Timing & Attendance
✅ DO – Be On Time
The program will begin promptly at 5:00 PM.
✅ Reporting time : 4:30 Pm
We have a full program planned, so please make sure your child arrives at the instructed reporting time and is ready to participate.
🎟️ IMPORTANT – Tickets & Entry
All tickets will be scanned at the entrance before guests enter the auditorium.
If you received one group ticket for multiple guests and everyone in your group is arriving at different times, you do not need separate tickets.
The same group ticket can be scanned multiple times until all guests included on that ticket have checked in.
Please have your ticket ready on your phone when you arrive to help us keep the check-in process quick and smooth.
🚗 DO – Plan Your Parking & Arrival
The recital will be held at:
Lewisville Grand Theater

Free public parking is available around the theater and throughout Old Town Lewisville. Please allow yourself enough time to park, walk to the theater, scan your tickets, and get seated before the program begins.

✅ DO – Stay for the Entire Program
All students are expected to be present from the beginning until the end of the recital.
We will begin with the traditional Lamp Lighting Ceremony with all our students on stage and conclude with Mangalam, once again with all students together on stage.
❌ DON’T – Leave After Your Child’s Performance
Please do not plan to leave immediately after your child finishes their individual performance. Every student is part of the complete recital and is expected to participate through the closing Mangalam.
✅ DO – Make Sure Your Child Is Well Rested
Since the recital is during the first few days of the new school year, children may still be adjusting to their new schedules.
If your child attends school that day, please plan ahead and, if possible, allow them an hour or two to rest or sleep before getting ready for the recital.
A well-rested child will have better energy, focus, and confidence throughout the evening.
ℹ️ Performance Sequence
The program sequence has been carefully arranged to give every student enough time for costume changes, rest, and preparation between performances.
The sequence is based on these requirements and the overall flow of the program — not on the age of the students.
2. Hairstyle, Makeup & Jewelry
✅ DO – Follow the Standard Hairstyle & Makeup
Please use the regular Bharatanatyam stage makeup as discussed.
The standard hairstyle for the recital will be bun and braid. Please make sure the hair is secured properly so it remains neat throughout the performances.
✅ DO – Use the Required Jewelry
Please use all the jewelry and ornaments as instructed, including Suryan and Chandran.
❌ DON’T – Use Vanki / Arm Ornaments
Please do not use the Vanki (arm ornament). We have had a few incidents with it during previous performances, so we are avoiding it for the safety and comfort of our dancers.
👧 Thursday 5:00 PM Batch
For our younger students in the Thursday 5:00 PM batch, please follow the specific hairstyle and ornament instructions already discussed for their group.
Costume & Dress
🚨 VERY IMPORTANT – Arrive Fully Ready
All performers must arrive at the event center fully dressed and performance-ready.
This means your child should arrive with:
Costume ✓ Hair Done ✓ Makeup Done ✓ Jewelry & Accessories On ✓
Please complete all dressing, hair, makeup, and necessary adjustments before leaving home.
We will have a tight schedule once everyone arrives at the venue, and there will not be enough time to get students ready or do extensive final touch-ups at the event center.
Please double-check everything at home so your child can arrive, check in, and be ready to go backstage.
✅ DO – Check the Skirt Length
Please adjust the skirt so that the dancer’s salangai/anklets are clearly visible. The costume should not interfere with their footwork or movement.
⚠️ IMPORTANT – Check the Skirt Tying Threads
We noticed that the tying threads on some skirts tend to loosen.
Please check them carefully before recital day and make sure the skirt can be tied tightly and securely.
If the existing thread is too smooth or slippery, please replace it with a stronger thread rather than risking the costume becoming loose during the performance.
✅ DO – Bring ALL Required Costumes
If your child has costume changes between performances, please make sure you bring every required costume, jewelry set, accessory, and hair item.
Where possible, please organize and label each costume set so that backstage changes can happen quickly and smoothly.
4. Dance Props
✅ DO – Bring All Required Props
If your child’s performance involves a prop — for example, Kolattam sticks — please make sure it is brought to the event center.
❌ DON’T – Depend on Spare Props
We will not have spare props available at the venue for students to borrow or share.
Please double-check your child’s performance requirements before leaving home.
5. Snacks, Food & Drinks
✅ DO – Let the Kids Recharge Backstage
Students will be provided with a light snack and water or Gatorade backstage after their performances as needed.
We want to make sure they remain hydrated and have enough energy throughout the recital.
❌ DON’T – Bring Outside Food or Drinks Into the Hall
Outside food and drinks are not permitted inside the event center. Please help us respect the venue policy and keep the auditorium clean.
✅ DO – Step Outside When Necessary
We understand that very young children or elderly family members may need food or refreshments during the program, you can bring food or drinks for them but its not allowed to be consumed within the auditorium.
If necessary, please step outside the auditorium to have them eat or drink.
❌ DON’T – Enter or Exit During a Performance
Please do not open the auditorium doors or move in and out while a performance is in progress.
Wait until the current item has completely finished before leaving or re-entering. This helps minimize distractions for the dancers on stage.
6. Backstage Access & Costume Changes
✅ DO – Only Performers can use the Designated Backstage Entrance
We have a proper backstage area and changing rooms available behind the stage for students who require costume changes.
If you need to help your child, please exit through the main auditorium doors and use the designated side entrance to reach backstage.
Our volunteers will be available to guide you.
❌ DON’T – Parents do not enter Backstage Through the Stage
Parents and guests should not enter or cross the stage to reach backstage.
Stage access is reserved for performers and authorized recital team members only.
Keeping the stage pathways clear is important for both safety and the smooth flow of the program.
7. Audience Etiquette
✅ DO – Keep Phones on Silent
Please make sure all phones and electronic devices are on silent mode before the program begins.
❌ DON’T – Use Flash Photography
Please do not use flash photography during performances. Sudden flashes can distract dancers and affect their concentration on stage.
✅ DO – Remain Seated During Performances
Please remain seated while an item is in progress. If you need to step outside or return to the auditorium, please wait until the performance has finished.
❌ DON’T – Distract the Performers
We know everyone will be excited to see their child on stage, but please avoid calling their name, waving to get their attention, or communicating with them from the audience.
Allow them to stay focused on their dance and enjoy their moment on stage.
❤️ DO – Encourage Every Performer
Please support and encourage all of our dancers, not just your own child. Every student has worked hard for this special day, and a supportive audience makes a wonderful difference.
8. Professional Photography & Videography
✅ DO – Relax & Enjoy the Performances
We will have professional photographers and videographers covering the entire recital.
They will be capturing on-stage performance photographs as well as professionally recorded full performance videos, so parents can relax and enjoy watching their children perform.
📸 About Individual Photos
Because some performances have larger groups, individual or solo photographs of every child cannot be guaranteed.
However, we have specifically instructed our photographers to capture as many individual moments as possible, in addition to the group and performance photographs.
⏳ Photo & Video Delivery
The professional team will need time after the event to edit and prepare the photographs and videos.
Once we receive the completed files, we will share the available photos and videos with families within the following few weeks.
❌ DON’T – Spend the Entire Performance Behind Your Phone
Since we have a professional team capturing the event, we encourage you to be present, enjoy the performances, and experience this special moment with your child.

Our students have worked incredibly hard to prepare for this day. Our biggest priority is for every child to walk onto that stage feeling rested, prepared, confident, and excited.
